Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. will open mini department stores at Haneda Airport and a popular shopping center in Shinjuku, Tokyo, in spring 2012 in an attempt to reach more customers and stop falling sales.
The stores, which will focus mainly on cosmetics and men's general merchandise, will target women in their 20s and 30s and men in their 30s to 50s, according to the company.
The company said it planned to open about 20 to 30 such shops within a few years at commercial complexes in train station buildings and shopping centers.
The shop in the Lumine Shinjuku shopping center adjoining JR Shinjuku Station will have a floor space of about 150 to 200 square meters and specialize in cosmetics, offering about 20 domestic and foreign luxury brands, such as Lancome and RMK, the company said.
