What if your dog could talk – and then became the “other woman” in your marriage? The Lakeside Players answer this biting question when they perform the two-act comedy "Sylvia," March 28, at Ehrhardt’s Waterfront Banquet Center, Tafton, as a scholarship fundraiser for the Northeastern Pennsylvania Theatrical Alliance (NEPTA).
The evening starts with a cash bar at 5:30 p.m. and a buffet dinner at 6 p.m. The play follows at 8 p.m. NEPTA – an alliance of community theater companies from several northeastern Pennsylvania counties – offers a scholarship every year to one or two graduating seniors who plan to major in the performing arts in college.
Tickets are $35 and reservations are required. Call 570.226.6207 or 570.470.8713 to reserve your seat.
"Sylvia," by A.R. Gurney, tells the hilarious story of a middle-aged married couple and the stray dog that comes between them. Greg’s career is winding down, and he’s having a midlife crisis. Kate’s career is taking off, and she’s enjoying the empty nest. When Greg brings home a stray dog (“Sylvia”) he found in the park, the mutt becomes a major bone of contention in their marriage, creating the most unusual love triangle in stage history. Sarah Jessica Parker starred as Sylvia when the play opened in New York in 1996.
