Where to buy Lump Charcoal?

Hi all,
I'm shopping for a bar-b-q grill, and have used charcoal most of my life, but now I hear that it pollutes the air way worse than propane grills do, promotes deforestation, wastes fuel (burning for long periods of time to warm up, tossing

Charcoal is a nasty form of heat. Waists trees and gives off carbon monoxide which is very bad for the environment as well as you. Propane burns pretty clean and up until the last 50 years was largely considered waste. Gas was burned at the well head

THE RADIO SHOW IS BEING MOVED TO TUESDAYS AT 4:30 PM EASTERN. Now you know. Not that anyone ever listens to me…

Last week, I had lots of emails and text messages saying they did not know the radio show was moved to one hour (even if it was in the last post and the nightmare mentioned 400 times). Anyway ... Looks like my time slot of Thursday has been replaced by something interesting, so I call you every Tuesday from now on. Hope to hear from you.

I want to take a few minutes and be honest about my self-image. Oh boy, Dusty will write about himself - woohoo. Unusual....

Scott and Mary-Ann Bubb aren’t new to the winners’ circle.

Since 2009, they’ve produced so many award-garnering vintages they should rename their business the Seven Mountains “Winnery.” On March 1, the Bubbs added another accolade to their long and growing list of honors: Small Business of the Year, as selected by the Chamber of Business and Industry of Centre County.

“We were very, very excited,” Scott Bubb said of the announcement, made before hundreds of members of the county’s business community. “Even though over the last two-and- a-half years we’ve won many prestigious awards for our wines, winning the CBICC award means more than anything else. It makes us feel warm and fuzzy all over.”

Which, ironically, is similar to the feeling you get when you drink one of the Bubbs’ mouth-watering wines, like their ice wine, which has won the Governor’s Cup for best overall win at the last two consecutive Pennsylvania Farm Shows.

  2. We are also trying charcoal-filtered cocktails. [Charcoal] smoothes it, mellows it and gives a soot to it — a smoky, sooty flavor. It resembles in a way a peated Scotch. We make 25 liters of the cocktail and you rest it on lump charcoal for 10 days.
  3. The biggest complaint about charcoal is how long it takes to start the coals and get a good burn before cooking can be done. The chimney will allow you to start your coals (lump or briquette) burning while you are prepping the food.
  4. For fuel, lump hardwood charcoal is best to impart a nice, woodsy flavor. Building a hot fire — preferably 550 to 600 degrees — is a challenge in Cordillera, so he has to settle for 500 degrees. One very important point — never, ever use charcoal
  5. About one hour before cooking, I take briskets out, heat up the grill to 200 degrees with wood or natural lump charcoal. Once I do that, I put on a favorite rub, about ½ cup seasonings I rub into the meat with my hands. Brisket fat side down onto the
