I have a 6 month old son and have been using NUK dummies and teats like a lot of mothers out there! I was watching channel 9 news tonight and there has been a recall on the NUK dummies due to SIDS. They are a choaking hazard and have poor ventilation.
Unfortunately, companies don't tell anyone anything that reflects poorly on their products until/unless required to by a government agency. I'm glad that your baby wasn't harmed, but it's terrible that they can get away with this!

DUMMIES and bottle teats are being withdrawn from the market after they failed to comply with EU legislation regarding the level of gross released N-nitrosatable substances.
The teat NUK First Choice, produced by German company Mapa Gmbh and the dummy MAM Air, produced by Hungary’s BAMED AE have already been withdrawn from the shelves.
NUK’s faulty batch is 268246 while MAM’s is “LOT:LC 77183”.
According to the 1993 European Commission directive 93/11/EEC, concerning the release of N-nitrosamines and N-nitrosatable substances from elastomer or rubber teats and dummies, the maximum amount of N-nitrosatable substances must not exceed 0.1 milligrams.
The level for total N-nitrosamines released in parts of teat or dummy made of elastomer or rubber is set at 0.01 millimetres.
